The name originated in Zaytun, China. Satin cloths were originally of silk and simulations are now made from acetate, rayon, and polyester. The fabric has a very smooth, lustrous face-effect while the back of the material is dull. The satin weave and finishing of the goods provide and enhance the lustrous surface texture.Satin fabrics may be light to heavy in weight. They vary in drape from stiff to very supple.Additional colors may be available in stock or by special order.
